Within the two areas the
Trust has six radio and satellite collared elephants which it is responsible
for monitoring on behalf of the Peace Parks Foundation. This is a study to set
up to discover how extensively wildlife corridors between conservation areas
are used by various species. This would add weight to the argument on the requirement
of T.F.C.A.'s ( Trans Frontier Conservation Areas ) throughout Southern Africa
to progress conservation effort. The Trust makes quarterly reports to Peace Parks
with all the information on sightings in that quarter and any sightings by guides,
staff and clients alike are requested to be reported to the Trust using a report
form.
The Trust is pleased to announce the arrival of at least 3 baby elephants on
the Nyika in the past few months. It is believed that the elephants on the Nyika
arrived here due to the pressure of poaching elsewhere. It is fantastic to see
that they are now comfortable enough to begin breeding.
