Through your generous support, the Nyika-Vwaza Trust in Malawi works with the
Department of National Parks and Wildlife to improve the conservation of wildlife
in the Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve.
The Nyika-Vwaza (UK) Trust will provide the funding for year on year operational

A programme of road maintenance
was started in the Trusts first year of operation initially concentrating on
the main game drive route around Chosi Loop. Where necessary, new drains were
cut and holes in the road filled in. Once the Chosi Loop repair work is complete
sections of the Chelinda Bridge and Zungwara Loop road will be repaired. This
work continues until the rains begin.
It is now our plan to maintain as many of the roads on the Nyika as possible.
Once the rains have finished, teams will be sent out all over the park to repair
the roads damaged by the severe wet season torrents.
The road network throughout the Nyika is extensive and requires a great deal
of resource to improve and maintain it. There are ambitious plans for the future.
